No! We utilize the latest technology enabling us to work with clients all over the country. Our firm is virtual, and the plan is always to be virtual. If you live in town, we are happy to meet in person.
We work with clients around the country and conduct meetings most often through video conferencing software. We also will meet with clients over the phone. Clients will meet with us from their homes, offices, or any other location that is convenient, private, and quiet. We recommend clients have a laptop or computer with a camera, microphone, and a reliable internet connection.
The first step is a complimentary discovery session. This is a short chat to get acquainted with each other. The easiest way to schedule a Discovery Session is to select a time that works for you on the left side of this screen. You may also call 970-500-BIRD (2473) and hit option 2.
We do not require you to get anything prepared for the initial discovery session. The discovery session is a quick chat to make sure that both of us want to continue working with each other. During this time we will talk about your financial situation and go over how our firm operates. Later in the process, we will instruct you on what other documents or questionnaires may be needed.
We are glad you feel good about your financial situation. Does a star quarterback still have a coach and other experts around them? Do you know how to change your car oil but still pay someone to do it? Getting a second opinion from a professional or saving yourself time are just two reasons why people good with money still hire professionals. We are open 9am – 6pm MST, Wednesday – Saturday. We believe in a flexible lifestyle so we often work with potential clients and clients outside of our stated business hours. Let us know if you want to meet with us at a different time to better fit your needs.
Yes, of course. You can cancel the relationship at any time. Our clients pay their fees on a quarterly or semi-annual basis. The fee is in arrears, which means we will charge you a prorated amount from the date of the last fee until the date you cancel.
We partner with Betterment Advisors to ensure your money is safe and secure. Your quarterly performance reports and tax documents will come from them. We also grant our clients access to their own customized client portal, where they can view their entire financial life in one place. You can see all your financial accounts, net worth, retirement projections, and so forth on your computer or use an app on your phone.
We strategize based on your financial goals and situation to create a diversified and properly allocated portfolio that is passive, low-cost, and tax-efficient. We’ll help you avoid paying higher fees with investments that likely will fail at beating the market.
A fee-only financial advisor is compensated directly by their clients for financial advice and ongoing investment management. There are no commissions or payments from financial products we use and recommend, which minimizes conflict. Fee-only is the most transparent and objective compensation structure available. There are two other categories that other financial advisors fall into fee-based; they receive some commissions and 100% commission only.
Financial coaches and financial advisors are not the same things. However, they are similar in a lot of respects. It isn’t a one-or-the-other approach; both can help elevate you financially. Often a financial coach will be the bridge to the advisor. It is said that personal finance is composed of 80% behavior and 20% knowledge. An advisor is more geared to investments and wealth management. An advisor will focus less on daily money habits and more on strategic long-term planning. A financial coach on the other hand is more focused on the 80%, behavior and your relationship with money. Think of a financial coach as a personal trainer. We guide you, champion you, hold you accountable, and help you form good habits, but you still need to jump on the treadmill and lift the dumbells.
For those just starting to get the foundation of personal finance and working on daily money behaviors with a financial coach, then we don’t provide investment advice. And no coach will be able to, as financial coaches aren’t licensed to provide investment advice. Our financial advisors, on the other hand, are licensed and ready to help you with investments if that is what you need help with.
This applies only to clients that are receiving financial coaching. You may reschedule for any reason up to 24 hours of your appointment free of charge. Any cancellations or reschedules requested within 24 hours of your appointment will be charged for the appointment. Our coaches, at this point, have invested their time in getting ready and blocked off that time for you. You may cancel and get 50% of your money back up to 24 hours before your first appointment.
We make getting financial help affordable to everyone and work on a sliding scale. We charge by the hour or a flat rate for a package that includes multiple sessions. A financial coach can go over the details with you during your discovery session.
We want to put money back in your wallet, not drain it. Financial coaching is the best way to learn new money habits and put money problems behind you. You may be asking if this is something you can afford, but the real question is can you afford not to get help from a professional? All money situations are different and you don’t have to be ashamed of your financial situation. We are here to provide hope, understand your situation, and provide money guidance. We have seen all types of money scenarios. There is not a better way to get back on track with your money and create good money habits. This is an investment in yourself and your family. What are you worth?
Relationships are a two-way street, not a solo adventure. Managing your finances as a unit is the only way to have a successful outcome. Oftentimes, once couples start to engage in money conversations their tensions, are alleviated. We feel strongly about couples working together on their money goals and our coaches typically won’t move forward until both individuals are committed. If you’re having difficulty getting your spouse on board, talk with your coach.
